A former member of the team when he was in high school, Ken matriculated at Springfield College and played defense on the SC squad. McCarthy began his coaching career at South Hadley in Massachusetts before taking over the SHS reins.
During his coaching career he has compiled an overall record of 126-69 and two state championships. In addition, Ken was named Coach of the Year in 1996 by the Connecticut High School Lacrosse Coaches and Outstanding Coach of the Year by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association for 1999.

Culver Modisette
In 1996 Coach McCarthy pulled off one of the greatest coups in Connecticut lacrosse history when he convinced Culver Modisette to become an assistant coach at SHS.
As Defensive Coordinator, Culver works exclusively with that end of the field. The 1999 defensive numbers are a testament to his knowledge and dedication. His "D" unit allowed an average of only 4.7 even-strength goals per game while "killing-off" 80% of man-down penalties!
A Dartmouth College grad, Culver was named Secondary School Lacrosse Man of the Year in 1971 and Connecticut Lacrosse Man of the Year in 1990 by the C.H.S.L.A.
He is also president of the Conn. Valley Lacrosse Club. Culver and wife Norma live in Somers.

Wayne Nolan
Wayne Nolan joined the Somers High School coaching staff in 1994. But even before that time he played an integral role in the program's development.
A former president of the Somers Lacrosse Association, Wayne is also the father of Jay, a two-time All State Somers lacrosse player. In the heat of the battle, you can always see Coach Nolan as he manages to keep the team focussed and controlled.
"Coach Nolan is critical to our overall success. Without his stabilizing influence, we would not have had the success we've had" says Ken McCarthy.
Wayne was also a member of the `98 USA Grand Masters Lacrosse team that participated in the World Games. Wayne and his wife Mary Jane reside in Somers
