2001 Season Dedicated to John Tschummi
The 2001 Somers High School Lacrosse season is being dedicated to Junior John Tschummi.
John was injured in a car accident in November 2000, has recently come home and is slowly recovering at a Hartford area rehab center.
John has been an excellent student in Somers, and with his quiet "can-do" attitude, exemplifies the 'team player" attitude his coaches and teammates admire.
Last season, John was a backup goalie and saw playing time as a defenseman when called upon. He is also a member of the SHS Soccer team, which reached the Class S semifinals this past fall.
Always ready with a smile, John is well liked by everyone who knows him, and the towns outpouring of support for John and his family throughout their difficult ordeal definitely confirms this.
Johns parents, John and Rosita, and sister Carolyn (a varsity soccer player at Holy Cross in Worcester,MA) have been long supporters of Somers athletics.
Our hope for John and his family is that he continues making progress in his recovery, and that he can attend some Spartans Lacrosse games during this season.
The players will be recognizing John by wearing his number "20" on their helmets.
Fall 2001 Update!
John continues to make progress and is walking and attending classes at Somers High School part-time.
He attended many Varsity soccer games this fall. GO JOHN and GO SPARTANS!
